The City Wide Attraction, Recruitment and Retention Group was established to support the implementation of the Leeds plan.

The workforce ambition within the Plan is to “work as if we are one organisation” supported by a programme of culture change promoting a “working with” approach , the development of new roles and an “agile workforce”.

The plan is predicated on strong partnerships across health, social care, and the independent and third sectors, drawing upon

the City’s unique assets. Service re-design and delivery is at the heart of the plan, as are the 58,000 staff who currently work in the sector.

PROGRESS AND NEXT STEPS

Over the past 18 months, the group has formalised and strengthened partnerships across the city with Health and Care partners conducting joint attraction campaigns, jointly attending careers and recruitment events as well as sharing best practice- which is leading to greater consistency across the city in terms of recruitment practices.

In order to support the step change necessary to deliver the City’s ambitious plans, the Group feels that it would benefit from a broader discussion and commitment from partners with regards to greater integration (joint recruitment, Leeds Health and Care job site, pooling attraction budgets).

As such, we are hosting a Workshop on Monday 13th November, 2017, 8.30am-12.30pm at the Thackray Museum to review the group’s priorities with a wider group of stakeholders and seek input to the approach moving forward.

The session will provide a brief reminder of the

  • National and local context Successes to date

We will then discuss:

Attraction: How do we attract people/promote opportunities  to work in the Health and Care sectors in Leeds at a local and national level?

Recruitment: Approaches/processes: harmonisation

Retention: How can we retain staff within Leeds Health and Care System

We have a limited number of places available for the event and are keen to ensure we have a broad mix of individuals including operational/clinical colleagues as well as recruitment colleagues.

Could I therefore ask you to nominate or forward to any colleagues you believe have particular experience/skills/interest that would help us in agreeing priorities for the next phase of our work.
